Discovery Programme!
This course is for learners between the ages of 16 and 25 with an EHCP who would like to explore the idea of becoming self-employed.
Our Discovery Programme helps young people to explore the world of work through activities, conversations and education.
SAMEE is offering young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) the opportunity to join our exciting Discovery Programme.
The objectives of the Discovery Programme are to:
- Develop independence through learning employability, self-employment and other holistic skills.
- Assist young people in becoming active members within their local communities.
- Support young people to develop confidence in their own abilities.
No formal qualifications are needed for this course. All you need is to be open to the idea of exploring the world of work through being creative and conversations.
There is no assessment or exam for this programme. This programme is to create a safe environment for those wishing to explore the world of work (with self-employment being one of those options).
A lot of this course will revolve around being creative, having conversations, and building up the confidence of the young person to pursue their next steps.
Work-based activities are built into the programme and will be on-site. However, there are options to go off site for some formal work experience should the young person wish to.
Young people on this course will be working towards the level 1 qualification Progression from this course could be:
- Progression onto the full Level 1 Steps into Self-Employment Qualification with Internship
- Moving to another provider
- Meaningful employment or volunteering
